Mizuho EMEA appoints Borja Zamorano as Head of European Corporate Coverage

Appointment highlights Mizuho’s continued progression enhancing its EMEA platform.

London, 12 January 2026: Mizuho EMEA, part of Mizuho Financial Group, one of the largest financial institutions in the world, today announces the appointment of Borja Zamorano as Head of European Corporate Coverage reporting to Slava Slavinskiy, Head of Banking, EMEA.

Zamorano has been with Mizuho for more than 14 years and takes up this new role following his successful leadership as Head of Business Development for EMEA and Head of Corporate & Investment Banking Southern Europe, and Head of Madrid Branch, where he has been instrumental in deepening Mizuho’s client relationships across European markets and driving strategic growth within the EMEA franchise.

In his new additional role, Borja will lead Mizuho’s European Corporate Coverage team located in Frankfurt, London, Madrid and Paris, overseeing the bank’s key relationships and helping to strength client dialogue. His appointment reinforces Mizuho EMEA’s commitment to expanding its corporate banking footprint.

Borja brings extensive experience in corporate and investment banking, having held senior positions at Mizuho and previously at RBS, ABN AMRO and BBVA. His deep understanding of the European corporate landscape and long-standing client relationships will be central to Mizuho’s ambitions to grow its global platform and deliver value-added strategic advice to clients across sectors.
