Mizuho supports the energy transition by participating in the financing of Germany’s largest offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea once operational
London, 18 September 2026: Mizuho in EMEA is pleased to announce its participation in the financing of the Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm, a landmark renewable energy project being developed by Skyborn Renewables in the German Baltic Sea.
Mizuho acted as Mandated Lead Arranger and Hedging Bank in connection with the €2.1 billion non-recourse financing for the project. The transaction supports the development, construction and operation of the Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm, which is expected to have a total installed capacity of up to 976.5 MW, making it the largest offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea once operational.
Located approximately 15 kilometres north of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, the project will comprise up to 63 Siemens Gamesa offshore wind turbines and is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2028. The project is being developed by Skyborn Renewables and will contribute significantly to Germany's renewable energy ambitions, energy security and long-term decarbonisation objectives.
Clemens Mieth, Director of Infrastructure and Advisory, Mizuho EMEA:
“We are proud to have participated in this financing and big congratulations to the Skyborn team on closing this landmark transaction. At Mizuho we are committed to helping our clients grow by leveraging our financial strength and sector capabilities, to support the scale up of renewable energy.”
