Date: Thursday, 1 May 2025
Time: 09:00 GMT, 17:00 JST

We invite you to join us for a post Bank of Japan (BOJ) Monetary Policy meeting analysis from Shunsuke Kobayashi, Chief Economist and Shoki Omori,Chief Desk Strategist for Rates & FX; both from Mizuho Securities, Tokyo. The session will be hosted by Evelyne Gomez-Liechti, Multi Asset Strategist, Mizuho International plc, London.

This is the first BOJ meeting since US President Trump's 'liberation day'. Some media outlets have suggested that the BOJ is still considering a rate hike in July 2025, despite concerns about a global economic slowdown due to US tariffs. The latest Economic outlook will also be released and the market expects downward revisions to both its growth and inflation forecasts. On this call we will analyse the messages that Governor Ueda delivers.

Shunsuke will share his views on the implication of the BOJ’s decision for Japanese economy for 15 minutes, followed by Shoki who will discuss the impact on the Rates & FX markets, along with trade ideas, moderated by Evelyne.
