Mizuho continues to grow global markets business with seven new hires

London, 12 August 2021: Mizuho International, the London based securities and investment banking arm of Mizuho Financial Group, is continuing to grow and enhance its fixed income sales and trading business with seven new hires. Bringing a range of skills and experience with excellent client relationships, the new team members are part of Mizuho’s commitment to ensuring the optimum combination of electronic trading services and customised client service.

Joining during July and August 2021, the new hires are:

- Stephen Busby as Head of Convertible Bond Trading;

- Jonathan Smith as Head of Fixed Income IT;

- Guy Cornelius as Head of UK Credit Sales;

- Lu Fu as Head of e-Sales and Digital Transformation;

- Nick Holt in EMEA Credit Sales;

- Julian Moosuddee in UK Rates Sales; and

- James Wall in Structured Solutions Sales.

Asif Godall, Head of Global Markets, EMEA at Mizuho International said: “We continue to make significant progress in enhancing our EMEA global markets platform to provide product and distribution capability to our corporate and institutional clients in collaboration with our banking teams.  These hires demonstrate our broadening product capability and will also allow us to deliver low touch electronic trading solutions to our clients alongside a high touch personalised client service.”

Stephen Busby joins from Stifel Nicholas where he was a Managing Director within European convertible bond trading. He previously spent five years at Morgan Stanley as a Senior Convertible Bond Trader and prior to this was a Portfolio Manager at CQS Asset Management. Busby will report into Claus Jorgensen, Head of EMEA Credit Trading.  

Jonathan Smith joins from Credit Suisse where he was an IT Director in the front office. He filled a number of front office IT roles for over 20 years at the bank, focused particularly on delivering pricing and risk systems across fixed income and equity derivatives. Smith will report into Mark Gardner, Managing Director, Front Office IT Development.

Guy Cornelius joins from Seaport Global where he was a partner in the Sales and Trading team for European Fixed Income. He has a 30 year career in fixed income and portfolio management including at Royal London Asset Management as a Portfolio Manager, CRT Capital as Head of Europe; Jefferies as European Head of Credit Sales and Nomura as Co-head of FICC Sales Europe. Cornelius will report into Michel Ramon, Head of EMEA Credit Sales.

Lu Fu joins Mizuho from UBS where she spent six years as a product manager for global rates and credit. Previously she was at Citigroup where she held a number of roles including in FX e-commerce and Credit e-trading. Fu will report into Roy Martins, Head of EMEA Sales.

Nick Holt was most recently at Autonomous Research where he was responsible for Credit Sales. He previously spent 14 years at UBS in a variety of UK and European Credit Sales roles across client types. Holt will report into Michel Ramon, Head of EMEA Credit Sales.

Julian Moosuddee joins from Barclays Mauritius where he was Head of Sales, Global Markets, responsible for both onshore and offshore clients. He worked previously at TD Securities London and spent six years at ScotiaBank Europe as part of the LDI, RM and Hedge Fund Sales team. Moosudee will report into Roy Martins, Head of EMEA Sales.

James Wall joins from Natixis where he was a director in structured solutions sales. Prior to this he spent five years at Credit Suisse as a primary trader responsible for market making and risk management in European RMBS. Wall started his career at RBS in asset backed securities trading. He will report into Roy Martins, Head of EMEA Sales.
