Mizuho International announces further strengthening of leverage finance business

London, 30 March 2021: Mizuho International plc (Mizuho International), the London based securities and investment banking arm of Mizuho Financial Group, Inc, has appointed Robert Lepone as Head of Loan Trading EMEA. Lepone joins Mizuho next month.

Lepone’s appointment to this newly created role is part of Mizuho’s ongoing commitment to grow and develop its leverage finance capabilities in EMEA across both the Banking and Securities businesses, with his role focusing on expanding the bank’s distribution capabilities.

Matt Naber, Head of International Acquisition Finance at Mizuho Bank, comments, “Robert is a seasoned trader and we are excited to have him join the Mizuho franchise. His experience in the loan markets will significantly enhance our risk management and distribution capabilities for the benefit of our clients.”

Lepone will report to Claus Jorgensen, Head of EMEA Credit Trading and added, “Robert is an extremely well known loan market professional with fantastic experience across the sell side where he has previously built successful businesses. We are delighted that he is joining us to support our growing business in this area.”

Lepone joins Mizuho International from Seaport Group where he was Head of EMEA Loan Trading and established an EMEA distressed and par loan trading business. He has previously held roles as Head of European Distressed and Leveraged Credit trading at BNP Paribas, co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of Serone Capital Management and Head of European Distressed and Leveraged Credit Trading at Morgan Stanley. He has experience in starting and building business, both within and outside of financial services, and has consulted extensively as an expert witness in cases related to bond, loan and derivative products.
