London, 4 April 2023: Mizuho International plc (Mizuho International), the London based securities and investment banking arm of Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. today announced the appointment of Maureen Erasmus as Chair of the Board of Directors, subject to regulatory approval. Maureen will be replacing David Weymouth who will step down after seven years tenure as Chair of Mizuho International’s Board of Directors.
Erasmus will succeed Weymouth as the Chair of MHI’s Board of Directors - becoming the first female to take on the role as Chair of the Board of a Mizuho subsidiary. She was appointed to our Board of Directors in May 2017 and is currently a Senior Independent Non-Executive Director.
Erasmus has over 30 years of international experience in financial services, working across Europe, Asia, Australia, North and South America and South Africa. During this time, she has focused on investment banking, wealth management, private equity and strategy consulting. Outside of Mizuho, Maureen is a Non-Executive on three corporate boards, and two not-for-profit entity boards.

Weymouth was appointed to the Board of Directors as an Independent Non-Executive Director in July 2015, and was appointed Chair in June 2016.
