Mizuho EMEA appoints Guy Reid as Head of Banking, EMEA

London, 18 June 2026: Mizuho EMEA, part of Mizuho Financial Group, one of the largest financial institutions in the world, today announced the appointment of Guy Reid as Head of Banking, EMEA, subject to regulatory approval.

Reid has over 25 years of experience in corporate and investment banking, having joined Mizuho in 2013. He has since built an impressive career within the firm, most recently serving as Head of Primary Capital Markets EMEA; which includes the primary debt, loan, equity and structured finance businesses. During his tenure, he has built a strong track record of increased revenue generation, through long-term client relationships and deep product expertise. His reputation as a strong leader with deep knowledge across a wide spectrum of banking products, and extensive global network, will be key in providing strategic and value-driven direction for Mizuho’s banking business across the EMEA region.

In his new role, Reid will work in close partnership with Mizuho’s advisory arms of Greenhill and Augusta & Co, to drive further collaboration and strengthen the M&A and advisory offering across EMEA, and in collaboration across all regions to execute EMEA’s role in Mizuho’s global CIB growth strategy.

Hiroki Kurakagi, CEO for EMEA, and Matthew Ponsonby, Head of the Corporate & Investment Bank, EMEA, commented on the appointment: “Guy brings extensive experience in generating revenue growth across a broad suite of banking services and products, along with an unwavering commitment to deliver value for our clients. These strengths will be invaluable as we execute EMEA’s role in the Group’s global Banking CIB growth strategy. He consistently demonstrates the qualities that are essential in a leader of this calibre, and we look forward to the impact he will make as he leads the next stage of growth in the region.”

Guy Reid, Head of Banking, EMEA on his appointment, added: “I am excited to be taking on the role of Head of Banking, EMEA at a key point in time for Mizuho. There are huge opportunities for us to deliver Mizuho's entire product suite to clients, leveraging the talent and infrastructure of Mizuho’s global network. I look forward to playing a pivotal role in realising these prospects for the benefit of our clients.”
