Recently, Mizuho was privileged to deliver a special career seminar at the Sydney Japanese International School. As part of our ongoing social contribution activities, this event allowed us to support youth education and give high school students a practical glimpse into the professional world.
The session featured Yuri Imai, who is currently seconded from Mizuho to Pollination Global Holdings in Australia. Specialising in sustainability and climate risk, Yuri’s international career serves as a great example of Mizuho's dedication to fostering diverse talent, as well as encouraging women to thrive in a global business environment.
Yuri shared her personal perspective on what it means to be a professional by walking the students through her own career history. To make the content highly engaging and easy for them to understand, she explained that the role of a bank is not merely as a money-lending institution, but the provider of a vital bridge between companies—consulting on their operations and giving comprehensive financial and business support.
Ms. Yoshiko Miyata, the principal of the school, commented on the event's impact, saying that hearing real-world experiences from a professional actively working in society is an invaluable opportunity for their students as they begin to analyse themselves and their own possible career paths.
Mizuho will continue to value these community connections, supporting the educational growth of the next generation and driving sustainable societal development through promoting diverse and inclusive workplaces.
