Who are we looking for?
To join our summer internship programmes in London, you will be in the penultimate year of your undergraduate or postgraduate degree and be on course to achieve a minimum of 2.1. You must also have the permanent right to work in the UK.
We look for people who are:
- Highly motivated with strong academic qualifications (any degree discipline is accepted, although Computer Science degrees, or similar, are especially relevant to roles in Information Systems)
- Innovative thinkers who want to make a difference and have the drive to do so
- Exceptional communicators with the ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Individuals with a strong commitment to learn and drive the business forward

FAQs
- Submit an online application. Applications are typically accepted between September and October.
- Online testing. Our partner, Graduate Recuitment Bureau (GRB), will be in touch with those that will be moving onto the next stage of the interview process.
- Video interview. For the next part of the interview, GRB will send you a link to a 'virtual' interview, where we will require you to record your answers to a set of questions.
- Assessment centre. If you are advanced to the next step of the process, you will be invited to come along to one of our assessment centres. Assessment centres will be running between late November and early December.
- Offer. If your application is successful, offers will be sent out in late December for the internship starting in June.
Applications to the Internship Programme will close early October, so apply early to avoid disappointment.
No, we welcome applications from candidates with any degree discipline. Computer Science degrees, or similar, are especially relevant to the roles in Information Systems, or you should be able to demonstrate an aptitude for computing knowledge. Maths, Finance, and Economics degrees may be relevant to front office roles.
We do look for a strong academic background; however, we will consider applications with mitigating circumstances.
Yes, you can apply if you are in your final year of your undergraduate degree and planning to study a one-year Masters, graduating the following year. Please note that we are not able to offer graduate positions for the same year you complete the internship with us.
Unfortunately, only applicants with the permanent right to work in the UK can be considered for the programme, as we do not offer sponsorship for this opportunity.
Our Internship Programme consists of a 10-week structured training programme, including the following:
- Financial Product Training. This includes trading challenges, pop-up projects, knowledge retention quizzes, self-study products, simulations, and projects.
- Soft Skills Training. This includes business report writing, communications, Excel training, and presentation skills.
- Mizuho Focus Days.
- Departmental inductions - to help gain a greater understanding of every department at Mizuho and how they fit into the overall structure of the organisation.
- Know the team/desk - these sessions will be held by the relevant departments with their various functions/desks/teams to give the intern insight into their areas and what takes place within those areas day to day.
- Projects/learning time. Along with the 'know the team/desk' tasks, interns will be set projects to work on during the course of the programme.
- Touch Points. Intern buddies will provide informal support to help you get up to speed quicker.
- Networking Opportunities. Throughout the duration of the internship, there will be opportunities to grow your network through social events with fellow interns, graduates, and senior leadership across Mizuho.
