Mizuho EMEA’s Markets business is partnering with One Degree, a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering individuals from less advantaged backgrounds in boroughs surrounding the City of London.
As a key sponsor, Mizuho EMEA will help One Degree develop their innovative mentoring programme. The initiative aims to provide mentoring to over 100 students from disadvantaged backgrounds in neighbouring boroughs to the City of London, providing them with the knowledge, tools and support they need to increase their self-belief and achieve their goals.
The partnership aligns with Mizuho’s corporate philosophy to improve the society and communities in which it operates as well as Mizuho’s involvement with the City of London Progress Together initiative.
Through this initiative, Mizuho’s Markets business will also exercise its in-house technical expertise to support the development of the online mentoring platform and enable scale and resiliency through cloud-enabled technology.
In addition, Mizuho EMEA front office colleagues and clients will actively play a part in the programme as mentors, offering guidance and support to help making a difference by contributing to local communities and making a positive impact on young lives.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Asif Godall, Head of Markets at Mizuho EMEA, said: “Mizuho is excited to be partnering with One Degree. This is a unique opportunity to demonstrate our corporate philosophy of helping to improve society and the communities where we do business. It is also an opportunity to leverage the technology expertise from our Markets business to help scale One Degree’s innovative online mentoring programme”.
Roger Wynne-Dyke, CEO of One Degree, shared: “It is great to receive the support from Mizuho EMEA again. The sponsorship will have a positive impact on the on-going development and expansion of our online mentoring platform and, of course, for the students that this programme will be supporting.”
