Mr. Bennett was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of MHI in December 2020. Since 2024, he has been an independent member, and Vice Chair, of the Supervisory Board of Mizuho Bank Europe N.V. in Amsterdam, where he is also Chair of the Audit & Compliance Committee and a Member of the Supervisory Board Risk Committee, the HR Committee and the Nominations Committee.
Mr. Bennett has a distinguished career in financial services spanning over 30 years, and brings with him a deep strategic understanding of the client and markets businesses, having previously been Head of Capital Markets for EMEA & Americas for Fidelity International and prior to that Partner & Managing Director in Equity Capital Markets at Cazenove / JP Morgan Cazenove.
Outside of Mizuho, Mr. Bennett currently serves as Chairman of Appital Ltd., a capital markets focused FinTech business, which he helped found in 2018. He has recently stepped down as independent Non-Executive director of Harbour Litigation Funding and GB Snowsports. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales (FCA) and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (MCSI). He holds a M.A. (Hons) in Modern History from the University of Oxford.
