Mr. Ponsonby became President & CEO of Mizuho International and Head of the CIB (‘Corporate & Investment Bank’),EMEA, in October 2025.

He joined from BNP Paribas where he served as Head of Global Banking in the UK, overseeing its corporate and investment banking activities.

During his extensive career to date, Mr. Ponsonby has served in a number of senior leadership roles, including at Barclays Investment Bank and Citigroup, where he spent four years in Tokyo as Managing Director and Head of the Advisory Group.

Mr. Ponsonby is a member of the Corporate Partnerships Board at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

He graduated from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology with a First-Class degree in Materials Science and Metallurgy.
