Mr Imafuku was appointed to the role of Chief Strategy Officer for Mizuho EMEA, and General Manager of European Department, Mizuho Bank on 1 April 2025. These roles were taken on in addition to his appointment as Deputy President of MHI in May 2024.
Mr Imafuku joined Mizuho in 2000 and has since developed his career having worked for several of the Mizuho Financial Group companies, including Mizuho Bank, Ltd., Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd., and Mizuho Securities USA, LLC.
With a keen focus on global markets businesses, he has undertaken a range of strategic and financial roles within the business, including Director, Global Markets Coordination Department and Director, Corporate Development & Strategy department. Most recently, Mr Imafuku was Managing Director and Corporate Officer, Global Markets Division reporting into the Global Head of Markets.
He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors at the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA).
Mr Imafuku holds Bachelor of Laws Degree from Keio University, and Master of Laws Degrees from Northwestern University School of Law and New York University School of Law.
