London, 28 February 2019: Mizuho International plc (Mizuho International), the London based securities and investment banking arm of Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. today announced the appointment of Asif Godall as Head of Global Markets, EMEA, subject to regulatory approval. Godall will be replacing Zahra Peerbhoy, who will be leaving Mizuho International during March to pursue other opportunities. Godall’s appointment is effective 25 March 2019.
Godall has 21 years of leadership experience in global trading and fund management across the public and private markets. He was the Global Head of Traded Credit at HSBC where he led the bank’s trading and underwriting activities, and is credited with expanding the product range to include loans, special situations and financing. Prior to this position, Godall held senior roles at HSBC in global macro strategic trading, fixed income derivatives trading and FX trading. Godall joins Mizuho International from Cairn Capital where he served as Co-Chief Investment Officer overseeing investments across multi-asset credit, structured credit, real estate and CLOs. He helped to identify gaps and opportunities in the market from changing bank regulation and broadened the product range to include private debt and regulatory capital.
In his new position at Mizuho International, Godall will act in the capacity of Senior Managing Director and will have responsibility for the businesses of Fixed Income Sales & Trading, Equities Sales & Trading, Convertible Bonds Trading, Structured Solutions and Derivative Risk Solutions.
