Mizuho Information & Research Institute to arrange the seminar on the “Promoting Food Value Chain in Uganda 2017”

On 29th November, 2017, the Mizuho Information & Research Institute, Inc. (MHIR) will organize a seminar on the Promoting Food Value Chain in Uganda at Hotel Africana in Kampala, Uganda. This project was outsourced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF) to MHIR in April 2017.

This one-day seminar is aimed to promote the mutually beneficial development of agricultural sector, especially in crops (rice, etc.) sector, for both Uganda and Japan through utilization of capable technologies to advance high-value added agricultural products. The Seminar will gather eminent speakers, persons and organizations engaged in the crops (rice, etc.) value chain. At the end of the Seminar, there will be an individual consultation session to provide advice on start-up of agricultural business with Japanese companies.

Furthermore, the seminar is intended to provide a platform for business matching for the Agricultural Sector between Ugandan Institutions and companies, and Japanese companies through introducing the best practices and capable technologies which Japanese companies have.

We are entrusted this project as a part of the “Mizuho Global Agri-Innovation” which is MHIR’s original agricultural program started in 2015. In this program, we support research and feasibility studies involving the cultivation of Japanese-branded agricultural products and the transfer of advanced Japanese agricultural technology, such as farming machinery. We would like to continue promoting the activities related to the international development of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery as a part of “Mizuho Global Agri-Innovation”.
