Community

We’re all global citizens, and that’s why we’re compelled to make an impact through more than just drawing up deals.

We’re committed to the Americas in every way—helping to ensure businesses grow, economies thrive and that communities are cared for. Here are some of the ways we give of our talent, time and funding.

Spotlight on Community

BoardLead: matching corporate leaders with nonprofit boards

Strong leadership on nonprofit boards is essential to effectively drive the organization's mission forward. Mizuho Americas, partnering with Cause Strategy Partners, provides its senior leaders in the opportunity to utilize their professional skills to help nonprofit organizations locally and nationally by serving as board members.

Grameen America: microlending, macro impact

Grameen America focuses exclusively microlending to low-income women running small businesses in the United States and recently surpassed $4 billion invested in 190,000 entrepreneurs.

Start Small Think Big Inc: Growing Businesses, Shrinking Barriers

In 2010, Start Small Think Big was founded with the goal of helping historically marginalized and low- and moderate-income entrepreneurs succeed. To date, the organization has grown substantially with resources tailored to addressing the unique needs of its network of 10,000 small businesses. Developing community

Under the federal and state Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), our US commercial bank, Mizuho Bank (USA), has received an “Outstanding” CRA rating for meeting the needs of our community, particularly in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods through community development loans, investments, grants and services.

Employee Community Involvement

At Mizuho Americas, we champion uplifting the communities where we live and work, encouraging employees to support the nonprofits they care about through volunteering and by providing matching gifts.  Employees can double their personal donations and impact with matching gifts year-round.

Taking the time

Our ongoing volunteer programs are dedicated to addressing local needs in the Americas, empowering employees to make a meaningful impact. These initiatives encompass skills-based and hands-on activities aimed at underserved youth, including mentoring and college and career readiness workshops; and addressing basic needs such as hunger relief through meal service and packing projects.
