Community

We’re all global citizens, and that’s why we’re compelled to make an impact through more than just drawing up deals.

We’re committed to the Americas in every way—helping to ensure businesses grow, economies thrive and that communities are cared for. Here are some of the ways we give of our talent, time and funding.

Spotlight on Community

COOP Careers: Fueling upward mobility for first-generation college graduates

Founded in 2014, COOP Careers provides underemployed, first-generation and Pell Grant college graduates with opportunities to expand their professional skills and networks in order to launch a meaningful career and fuel upward mobility. Mizuho is thrilled to support COOP and its SMB Client project, aiming to provide participants with hands-on work experience in industries including Digital Marketing, Data Analytics, and Business Development.

In pursuit of transformation: The Pursuit transformation company

Pursuit is an innovative social impact organization focusing on closing the prosperity gap in America, transforming the lives of New Yorkers from low-income backgrounds through its no-cost engineering training programs. Mizuho is proud to partner with Pursuit to further accelerate and support the hundreds of young adults in their career and professional development.

Henry Street: Creating green jobs and bright futures on the Lower East Side

For nearly 130 years, Henry Street Settlement has been opening doors for Lower East Side residents and New Yorkers, providing a wealth of resources including career readiness training, social services, arts, health care and other programs. Developing community

Under the federal and state Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), our US commercial bank, Mizuho Bank (USA), has received an “Outstanding” CRA rating for meeting the needs of our community, particularly in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods through community development loans, investments, grants and services.

Employee Community Involvement

At Mizuho Americas, we champion uplifting the communities where we live and work, encouraging employees to support the nonprofits they care about through volunteering and by providing matching gifts.  Employees can double their personal donations and impact with matching gifts year-round.

Taking the time

Our ongoing volunteer programs are dedicated to addressing local needs in the Americas, empowering employees to make a meaningful impact. These initiatives encompass skills-based and hands-on activities aimed at underserved youth, including mentoring and college and career readiness workshops; and addressing basic needs such as hunger relief through meal service and packing projects.
