Spotlight on Community

The Marcy Lab School: Higher education reimagined and revolutionized

Since 2019, the Marcy Lab School, a higher-education alternative serving primarily Black and Hispanic communities, has been helping students land high-paying software engineering jobs. The Mizuho USA Foundation is a proud supporter of this smart, bold initiative, which is helping underrepresented young people ascend the socioeconomic ranks.

An Integrated Approach to Sustainable Finance and ESG

At Mizuho, we recognize the important of integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors across our business, and strive to further embed sustainability into our strategy and culture. In our latest video for Mizuho staff, we highlight our firm-wide sustainability initiatives to help raise awareness, encourage action, and increase our positive impact on our local communities and society more broadly.

iMentor: Mizuho staff mentor high schoolers on college and career goals

Since 1999, iMentor has matched nearly 38,000 students across the country with mentors. Erick and Nazaria are two of those talented students who, over the course of a multi-year mentorship with Mizuho employees, are exploring the rich educational and career opportunities available to them.

Under the federal and state Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), our US commercial bank, Mizuho Bank (USA), has received an “Outstanding” CRA rating for meeting the needs of our community, particularly in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods through community development loans, investments, grants and services.

Employee Community Involvement

At Mizuho Americas, we champion uplifting the communities where we live and work, encouraging employees to support the nonprofits they care about through volunteering and by providing matching gifts. Employees can double their personal donations and impact with matching gifts year-round.

Taking the time

Our ongoing volunteer programs are dedicated to addressing local needs in the Americas, empowering employees to make a meaningful impact. These initiatives encompass skills-based and hands-on activities aimed at underserved youth, including mentoring and college and career readiness workshops; and addressing basic needs such as hunger relief through meal service and packing projects.

As part of Mizuho's global commitment to financial education, Mizuho volunteers lead financial literacy workshops to help youth strengthen their personal finance skills.
