Pathways to prosperity: expanding our commitment to banks supporting underserved communities
Mizuho Bank (USA), a subsidiary of Mizuho Americas, has expanded its efforts to support Minority Depository Institutions and U.S. Treasury-designated Community Development Financial Institutions, which provide affordable credit, capital, and financial services to historically underserved communities. In total, Mizuho has deposited $45 million in three New York City mission-based financial institutions, an increase of $30 million over the previous year.

The Marcy Lab School: Higher education reimagined and revolutionized
Since 2019, the Marcy Lab School, a higher-education alternative serving primarily Black and Hispanic communities, has been helping students land high-paying software engineering jobs. Meals and mentorship: Mizuho grantees persevere through the pandemic
As New York City grappled with the pandemic and a shutdown that stifled the food service industry, caused enormous job losses, and exacerbated a hunger crisis for vulnerable New Yorkers, two Mizuho USA Foundation grantees stepped up to the plate and, through innovative business models, leveraged relatively small investments to have an exponential impact on food insecurity and economic opportunities for the underserved.
