Details regarding ISO 20022 Migration at Mizuho Bank’s Branches & Subsidiaries outside Japan
As previously communicated*1, SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication), a leading settlement network for remittances, has made a public announcement to gradually migrate from the current payment/remittance format (MT Format) to the new ISO 20022*2 complied format (MX Format) during the period March 2023 to November 2025.
Taking this lead, local clearing systems have announced their respective plans and schedules to adapt to ISO 20022 and started their migration process. Mizuho Bank’s global branches and subsidiaries, together with our peer global financial institutions, will also be taking necessary steps for this change.
Information regarding Mizuho’s key changes are made available on this webpage in the following two sections.
As individual circumstances/details may differ according to country (e.g., matters related to compliance with local regulations), information specific to each country will be provided by our local branches and/or subsidiaries in Section 2, and will be published in phases.

Section 1: Announcements (General)
1-1. Overview of Key ISO Migration-related Dates
- The planned ISO Migration-related dates in connection to remittance via Mizuho Global e-Banking and Mizuho China Local e-Banking are shown in the table below.
- The dates will be finalized and confirmed at a later stage. As for matters regarding products other products, please confirm the notifications from branches/subsidiaries in Section 2 for details.
(A): MX Opening Date: The date that Mizuho will start accepting remittance requests using the new ISO 20022 complied MX payment method
(B): MT Closure Date: The date that Mizuho will stop accepting remittance requests using the current MT payment method
(C): Reference Date for Template Migration: The reference date of the data that Mizuho will reflect the Template information to the newly added Structured Payment Menu in Mizuho Global e-Banking (MGeB)
(D): Date of New Menu to Appear on MGeB Screen: The date that the Structured Payment Menu will newly appear on the MGeB Instruction Screen

1-2. Key Changes regarding "Mizuho Global e-Banking"
- In order to comply with ISO 20022, "Structured Payment" Menu is newly added to the Instruction Screens in Mizuho Global e-Banking.

- This document explains how to input requirements/information of the creditor’s country when making cross-border remittance requests via Mizuho Global e-Banking (MGeB). The requirements/information are set forth by the local authorities. Please note that they are not guaranteed by Mizuho Bank.

- In order to comply with ISO 20022, Mizuho Bank Report Service that are related to the message types MT940 / MT941 / MT942, which will be changed to Camt.052 / Camt.053, respectively.
