What do you do at Mizuho?

I am the Head of US Risk Trading for Mizuho Americas, overseeing US Equities Risk, managing the US Cash Trading team, and serving as lead TMT trader for Equities.

How is Mizuho different from other places you've worked?

Very different. Mizuho is a unique blend, with the resources of a large bank and the entrepreneurial spirit of a smaller, growing firm. The focus on a strong work culture of collaboration is also unlike anywhere I’ve worked before.

What’s one thing you've learned while at Mizuho or in the industry?

Character, integrity, and reputation are paramount. Of course, intellect, experience, and market acumen are very important as well, but those attributes don’t mean anything without quality relationships.

What surprised you about Mizuho?

The breadth of resources across the bank. Mizuho has so much to offer to clients, and such a good story to tell. With new products and capabilities added each year, we are not the same company we were even just a few years ago. Raising awareness about what we can do is tremendously important.

Tell us about something you've learned from another culture while traveling.

In Italy, I learned the importance of mealtime in keeping a family connected. While the food itself is great, it’s really about the time spent together – catching up, laughing, and sharing. In the US, things often seem busier and more hectic, and spending mealtimes together is often one of the first things sacrificed. I’ve learned to prioritize family meals instead of letting them slip through the cracks.
