ESG Evaluation

The ESG initiatives that have been carried out by Mizuho thus far have received high evaluations, and Mizuho has been a part of social responsibility investment indices both inside and outside Japan.

Logo Dow Jones Sustainability Index Asia Pacific
Based on comprehensive long–term economic, environmental, and social evaluations performed jointly by U.S. Dow Jones and Swiss–based RobecoSAM, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index is a social investment index composed of leading names in each industry.
Logo  FTSE4Good Developed Index
A London Stock Exchange Group company, FTSE Russell has developed the FTSE4Good Developed Index, which consists of stocks that have met global standards related to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.1
Logo FTSE Blossom Japan Index
The FTSE Blossom Japan index was designed by FTSE Russell, a member company of the London Stock Exchange Group and consists of the stocks of Japanese companies that excel in meeting standards for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in and outside of Japan.1
Logo MSCI ESG Leaders Index
These indexes have been developed by MSCI (Morgan Stanley Capital International). Companies evaluated from the viewpoint of ESG are included in these indexes.2
Logo MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index (WIN)
This index has been developed by U.S. company MSCI and consists of the stocks of companies that have received high scores for gender diversity as calculated based on their data disclosed under the Act on Promotion of Women's Participation and Advancement in the Workplace.

The STOXX Global ESG Leaders index was established by STOXX Limited, a group company of the Deutsche Borse Group. A global index, it selects companies that meet strict environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria.

Logo 2020 Bloomberg Gender–Equality Index
This index, developed by Bloomberg, includes stocks of companies in 42 countries worldwide that are taking active initiatives to create workplace environments that feature gender equality and have policies and a record of accomplishments in information disclosure.

Society On March 3, 2020, Mizuho Financial Group and four of its group companies* received the Nadeshiko Brand designation for the third year in a row, a recognition jointly conferred by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

In March 2020, Mizuho Financial Group and four of its group companies* were recognized under the 2020 Health & Productivity Stock Selection, which is jointly administered by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Stock Exchange. This is the third year in a row that we have been selected for this program which recognizes companies which strategically promote employee health from a management perspective.

In November 2017, among companies in all industries in Japan, Mizuho Financial Group, Mizuho Bank, and Mizuho Information & Research Institute received the Comprehensive Information Technology Award in the 35th IT Award competitions held by the Japan Institute of Information Technology (IT Institute).
The Mizuho companies were evaluated highly from a comprehensive perspective as exemplary models among Japanese companies that are exposed to the digital revolution, for their initiatives, including their alliances with FinTech companies and activities to create new business models.

In May 2017, the Mizuho Financial Group was comprehensively recognized for its active initiatives to create new value through the use of technological innovation and other initiatives for enhancing competitiveness.

In April 2017, the initiatives of Mizuho Financial Group and Mizuho Bank were highly evaluated for creating new and improved customer experiences using LINE and Pepper, the humanoid robot.*
As a result, Mizuho Group and Mizuho Bank received the "Top Award for Excellence" in the Consumer Banking Channel Innovation category in the "Celent Model Bank 2017" competition.
