Mizuho receives grand prize at Japan Alumni Awards 2023
We are very pleased to announce that Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. (President & Group CEO: Masahiro Kihara) and four other Mizuho group companies1 today received the grand prize at the Japan Alumni Awards 2023, hosted by Alumni Lab, for the second year in a row.
At Mizuho, we consider “Mizuho alumni” (our former employees) to be important stakeholders. Since July 2020, we have been working to build an alumni network that creates value by being a channel for connection with people who are excelling outside of Mizuho.
We have been working tirelessly with former Mizuho employees to expand our alumni network. To date, our efforts have included providing Mizuho alumni with a variety of useful information, carrying out collaborative projects between alumni and current Mizuho employees, and establishing points of contact for alumni interested in once again working at Mizuho.
Moreover, this fiscal year we have continued our efforts to build new relationships with our alumni while responding to their needs, for example by embarking on business collaboration with them on a trial basis and by holding events for alumni to directly meet and network with current Mizuho employees. In July 2023, the number of registered members of Mizuho’s alumni website surpassed 1,000.2
Following our receiving the grand prize last year, we won the grand prize at the Japan Alumni Awards 2023 this time due to the high evaluation we received as a result of the membership of Mizuho’s alumni website rising fourfold, as well as the further progress we have enjoyed in a variety of alumni initiatives. We have also earned praise for the way our alumni initiatives have changed Japanese companies’ attitudes towards employees who resign, helping to bring about a major change in Japanese business culture.
Going forward, we aim to continue connecting and creating new value with our network of alumni, who continue to work in a wide range of fields.
